4700 CHILD ABUSE COMPLAINTS IN SRI LANKA.

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has received around 4,700 child abuse complaints during the past six months of this year.
Among these complaints were 391 cases of serious sexual abuse, 23 cases of rape, 1370 cases of child slavery and 1370 cases of child abuse. The highest number of such cases have been reported from Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Kurunegala and Ratnapura districts, said the Chairman of the National Child Protection Authority, Prof. Muditha Vidhanapathirana.
He further informed that if a child is subjected to any form of abuse, harassment, inhuman or cruel torture, the 1929 Child Support Service should be informed.
