It is reported that representatives of 35 countries are scheduled to visit the island today (17) to participate in the 37th Asia-Pacific Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
The Ministry of Agriculture states that the 37th Asia-Pacific Conference of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization will be held in Colombo from the 19th to the 22nd.
The final discussion on the organization of this conference was held yesterday (16) under the chairmanship of the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industry Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera.
More than 300 agriculture ministers, deputy ministers and officials from 35 countries in the Asia Pacific region are scheduled to participate in this conference.
Simultaneously, the Director General of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization is also scheduled to visit Sri Lanka tomorrow.
It is said that the ministers of agriculture of many countries such as China, Malaysia, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc. are also going to participate in this conference.
The inaugural session of the conference will be held on the 20th under the chairmanship of President Ranil Wickramasinghe, and the Ministry of Agriculture has further stated that this will be the conference in which the largest number of government representatives will participate in Sri Lanka after the Easter attack, the covid epidemic and the economic crisis.
