It is reported that a disciple of Mr. Shiran Bashik, who is considered to be a large-scale drug trafficker, has been arrested by the police special task force with heroin.
The police said that the suspect was arrested in a raid that took place yesterday (16) at the parking garage of the Haveloxity housing complex in Wellawatta.
An officer on duty on the road in front of the Havelock City housing complex in Wellawatta signaled to stop a car traveling on the road, whereupon the car hit the officer and drove continuously towards the parking lot of the Havelock City housing complex.
Later, two people who were there tried to run away, and one of the suspects was arrested by the police.
A 41-year-old resident of Kudabudgamuwa-Angoda area has been arrested.
The keys of 03 cars were found in his possession, and later in the inspection of those three cars, 19 grams of heroin, a mobile phone, a laptop computer, 29,000 rupees, 535 dirhams and 161 dollars were found.
The police also said that a driver’s license in the name of Nadine Bashik, an identity card issued by the state of Dubai and a travel bag with a driver’s license were also found there.
The property including the drugs seized by the police has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigation.
During the further questioning of the suspect, it was revealed that the escaped suspect is Nadine Bashik, a son of Shiran Bashik.
