It is reported that the motion of no confidence brought against Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena is scheduled to be handed over to the General Secretary of the Parliament today (05).
The chief organizer of the opposition, MP Lakshman Kiriella, has mentioned that he hopes to hand over the relevant proposal to the Secretary General of the Parliament Ms. Kushani Rohanadhira this morning.
The opposition, led by the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has decided to bring this motion of no confidence, accusing Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena of violating the constitution.
According to this, the process of obtaining signatures took place in the past few days and the relevant resolution is expected to be submitted to the Parliamentary Affairs Committee after being handed over to the General Secretary of the Parliament today, said Mr. Lakshman Kiriella.
