The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) has informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today that it has launched an investigation into the arrest of 702 Sri Lankans who allegedly had links with a powerful IS operative in India.
The arrested IS member was identified as Mohammad Samsudin, who was recently arrested by Indian intelligence.
The Anti-Terrorism Division has informed the High Court that investigations have revealed that he had links with 702 Sri Lankans in his WhatsApp account.
It is also reported that photographs and speeches of Saharan Hashim, one of the main bombers in the Easter attack, have been found in the relevant account and one of the 702 persons has been arrested so far.
