There are about 20 houses in Helambagaswewa village No. 363 Randuwa in the Mahavilachchiya Divisional Secretariat Division in the Anuradhapura District and the villagers say that the village has been flooded with rains for many years.
The reason for the flooding of the village is that the water coming to the upper part of the Helambagaswewa village when it rains falls through a small canal and there is no culvert to drain the water.
The villagers point out that many houses in the village are flooded due to this.
The floods have been raging for more than 20 years and although the authorities have been informed about the floods, no solution has been found so far.
The villagers are requesting the government to intervene and take necessary action to protect the flooded village and the villagers.
