Manusha Nanayakkara, Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment said that public servants who wish to go abroad for employment have been given the opportunity to register with the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and enter their details on the Bureau’s website.
The Minister said that an expeditious program to attract foreign exchange to the country has been initiated with the intervention of the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment and steps will be taken to provide the opportunity for public servants to go abroad for employment.
The Minister said that he intends to hold discussions with the Ministry of Public Administration to issue the necessary circulars to allow the public servant to go abroad without any hindrance to his pension and seniority.
During a discussion with the owners of foreign employment agencies this morning, the Minister said that foreign employment agencies play a vital role in sending public servants abroad and finding employment opportunities for them.
Speaking further Minister Manusha Nanayakkara said,
“We will provide opportunities for foreign employment for public servants. We will allow them to go abroad without affecting the seniority and pension of public servants. We will discuss with the line ministries in this regard and issue the necessary circulars.
There, public servants are sent abroad for employment and their employment is entrusted to foreign employment agencies. Find the job market you need and support their repatriation program
Public servants who wish to go abroad can access the Foreign Employment Bureau website and enter their information. The job opportunities as well as the qualifications required for that will be published on the same website in the future.
We also exchange information with foreign employment agencies on public servants who wish to go abroad. Accordingly, agencies are responsible for finding foreign employment for public servants.
While public servants throughout the country are willing to go abroad, they are assisted by the Ministry of Labor and Foreign Employment, the Bureau of Foreign Employment and the Foreign Employment Agency. I request you to make the maximum possible contribution for that.
