In the year 2023, Sri Lanka has received 6500 opportunities for employment in Korea, while last year only 5047 employment quota was received. Accordingly, the number of job opportunities has increased by 28.79% compared to last year and 1453 new job opportunities have been received for this year compared to last year. This is also the highest number of employment opportunities for Sri Lankan Korean jobs in history.
For these 6,500 job opportunities, 14,588 applicants have been given the opportunity to wait on the waiting list, namely 12,189 in the manufacturing sector, 2,149 in the fishing sector and 250 in the construction sector.
Last year, there was a job quota of 5047, but according to the continuous requests made by the Minister of Labor and Foreign Employment Mr. Manusha Nanayakkara from the Korean Human Resources Department, 6639 workers were able to be dispatched. The minister also expressed confidence that it will be possible to send a group of workers who will exceed the job quota received this year.
