Mr. Nimal Punchihewa, Chairman of the Election Commission, stated that a discussion will be held in the morning today (14) under the leadership of the general secretaries of the political parties contesting the election to decide on the postponement of the postal voting in the local government election. It is also said that election monitoring organizations have been summoned to the Election Commission today (14).
A spokesman for the Election Commission said that in every election so far, money has been given for ballot papers after the election, but the Government Press has informed his commission in writing that postal ballot papers cannot be issued if money is not paid. That no money was given to print the previous ballot papers.
Also, Director General of the Election Commission Mr. Saman Sri Ratnayake stated that the amount requested for the election activities has not been received yet.
