It is reported that a group of workers of the plantation have taken steps to hold a strike today (07) in protest against the temporary closure of the tea factory in the plantation owned by Agarapatana Plantation Company.
With the decrease in the amount of tea leaves picked daily from this estate, a group of workers of that estate has started a strike in protest against the tea factory of that estate being temporarily closed and the tea leaves being plucked from that estate being taken to the tea factory of Balmoral Estate.
The plantation workers participating in this strike say that the tea leaves cut in their plantation should be sent to the production of tea powder in the tea factory of their plantation every two days.
Former provincial council member Mr. Palani Shakthivel, who commented on these situations, has stated that he will pay close attention to this issue and discuss with the relevant parties and take further steps.
