It is reported that Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, made a statement in Parliament today (23) and asked that many students have been inconvenienced by the increase in the examination fees of the law school and what is the basis for the increase in the examination fees.
The leader of the opposition who expressed further comments in this regard,
“Gazette has increased the entrance exam fee by 257%. The entrance exam fee has been increased by 150%. This situation is unbearable for the students. The first year students have to pay 67,500. They split it into two. I went to pay 40,000 as 27,500 and when I could not pay even 27,500, I have arranged to pay it in two parts. This is a serious situation. The examination fee has been increased by 2,500 rs and 20,000 more for 8 subjects. On what basis have these fees been increased? If necessary, it should be implemented without causing injustice to the students. I am making a request to suspend this increase and talk again about increasing the amount that the children can afford.”
