It is reported that the Ministry of Defense has issued an announcement regarding the renewal of firearms licenses and the renewal of private security agency registration for the year 2024.
Accordingly, firearms license holders have been given time to renew their licenses from October 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023, and further information and applications can be downloaded from the Ministry of Defense website www.defence.lk.
The announcement issued by the Ministry of Defense has further stated that firearms licenses will not be renewed for the year 2024 after December 31, 2023 and that possession of a firearm without a valid license is a punishable offense according to the provisions of Section 22 of the Firearms Ordinance.
The Ministry has informed that the renewal of private security deputation registration for the year 2024/2025 will be done from 01.10.2023 to 31.12.2023, and for renewals made after that, late fees will be charged or legal action will be taken.
