A group of people were arrested while digging for gold suspected to have been buried by the LTTE organization during the war.
It is reported that 08 people have been arrested by the officials of the Special Task Force Wakare camp.
Yesterday (04) this raid was carried out in the area of ​​Dialog Gala, which has archaeological value, located near the Wakare-Verugal bridge.
A group of residents of Gunnepana, Nugawela, Wattegama, Trincomalee, Polonnaruwa, Wakare, aged between 38-52 years, have been arrested.
A scanning machine used to search for gold was also found in their possession and further investigations are scheduled to be carried out by the Wakare police.
