Traffic was disrupted on the Nuwara Eliya – Hatton main road at around 3.30 pm today (08) due to a landslide in the Nuwara Eliya Blackpool area.
Nuwara Eliya District Disaster Management Unit Assistant Director Ranjith Alahakoon stated that a part of the mound on the main road has collapsed due to the heavy rains that are currently falling in the area.
He also said that by now the officials of the Nuwara Eliya Road Development Authority office have gradually removed the soil and opened one lane.
