The Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Transport to amend the Motor Traffic Ordinance so that passenger buses can be operated without conductors or assistants.
Its chairman Gemunu Wijeratne stated that the proposal was made taking into consideration several issues including the loss of revenue and the shortage of staff in the bus industry affected by the Corona epidemic.
