The National Dengue Eradication Unit (NDCU) has announced that a special dengue eradication program will be launched in the Western and Eastern Provinces from today (08) targeting 59 dengue high risk medical officer divisions.
Acting Director of the National Dengue Control Unit Dr. Sudath Samaraweera states that according to surveys conducted on dengue vector mosquitoes and mosquito larvae, there is an increase in the number of dengue breeding grounds.
He pointed out that due to the prevailing rainy weather conditions, an increase in the number of dengue patients is expected in the future and this special dengue eradication program is being implemented.
