The cabinet has given approval to foreign workers to send remittances to Sri Lanka through regular channels.
Accordingly, they will be facilitated to import a two-wheeler electric vehicle subject to a maximum of US$25,000 and a four-wheeler fully electric vehicle subject to a maximum of US$65,000.
In the case of such import, permission is granted for the import of an electric vehicle with 02 wheels with a CIF value of up to 50% of the remitted foreign exchange value up to 30.04.2023 or the date of submission of an application form for importing a vehicle.
Also, from 04.05.2022 to 31.12.2023, permission has been granted to import an electric vehicle with 04 wheels with a CIF value of up to 50% of the value of foreign exchange remitted to Sri Lanka.
The related cabinet paper has been presented by the Labor Cabinet Minister.
