The Sri Lankan cricket team and the Sri Lankan netball team that won the Asian championship have arrived in the island this morning.
Today (13th) at around 12.50 am, the Sri Lankan netball team, which won the Asian Championship for the 6th time, arrived at Katunayake Airport from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
They were received by the Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Mr. Rohala Dissanayake.
It is reported that the Sri Lankan cricket team, who have become the Asian champions for the 6th time along with Meth, have also arrived in the island this morning.
A special ceremony was organized at the Katunayake International Airport to welcome them and the athletes who have come to the island are to be brought in a motorcade from Katunayake to Colombo.
The motorcade will start from Katunayake Airport at 06.30 in the morning and will arrive at the Freedom Mawatha via Peliyagoda Junction, Maradana Junction, Dali Road, Union Place, Alexandra Road on the Colombo-Negombo road and special receptions have also been organized at those places.
We also invite people to stand on both sides of the route with national flags in their hands to cheer for these champions.
