DEDICATED TO ERADICATE TUBERCULOSIS FROM THE COUNTRY – Minister Keheliya

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella says that Sri Lanka has been able to control tuberculosis through multi-pronged strategies and is committed to eradicate tuberculosis from the country by the year 2030.

He was speaking at a World Health Organization (WHO) meeting with representatives in the Southeast Asian region on tuberculosis.

The Minister further stated that some people in the urban areas of Sri Lanka are facing the problem of tuberculosis and about 8,000 cases of tuberculosis are reported in the country every year.

The Minister of Health also pointed out that prisoners, plantation workers, urban poor, domestic and external workers have been identified as high risk groups.
