Demand for alcohol falls.

State Minister of Finance Mr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya stated that the tax revenue which is about 8% of Sri Lanka’s gross domestic product should be increased to 11% in the coming year.
Meanwhile, Excise Commissioner General M.J. Gunasiri said that the demand for alcohol has dropped by 40% in the last few months.
They made these comments while addressing the annual general meeting of the Sri Lanka Excise Officers Association held yesterday (28) in Colombo.
