It is reported that 15 people have been arrested for assaulting two officers of the Police Vehicle Division who were on duty in Halawata, Thoduawa area.
Although the two concerned police officers were ordered to stop a motorcycle in order to check it while performing their duties, the motorcycle was driven in defiance of the order. It is said that by driving continuously like that, the motorcycle in question collided with an electric pole and got into an accident.
There, a group of local residents attacked the two police officers accusing the two police officers of causing the motorcycle accident.
It is reported that 15 people were arrested after an investigation into the incident.
