It is reported that the Sri Lankan Customs and Narcotics Control Division seized gold worth nearly 160 million carefully hidden in their bags when five people involved in gold smuggling were about to board a Sri Lankan Airlines flight to Mumbai, India.
It is also said that an Indian national who was staying at the airport premises was also arrested for investigation in connection with this incident.
It is reported that 10.5 kilos of gold in the form of gold pieces, gold ornaments and gel were seized from the possession of the suspects. The value of this is close to 160 million rupees. .
