It is reported that yesterday (24th), the Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera held a discussion with the officials of the Ceylon Electricity Board and the Ceylon Coal Coal Company regarding the procurement of coal needed for the Norochchol thermal power plant.
It was stated there that 10 ships of stone have been obtained during the elapsed time and 33 ships should be obtained for the complete requirement.
In that discussion, it was mentioned that 5 of the 7 galaguru ships scheduled to come to the island this month have been received so far and 2 more galaguru ships are scheduled to reach the island this month.
It is planned to get 7 ships each in the months of February, March and April and requests have been made from 2 state banks to get the necessary money for that.
