It is reported that USAID, which joined the United Nations World Food Program, has given 600 metric tons of rice to Sri Lanka. The American Embassy in Sri Lanka states that this stock of rice is enough to feed 3 lakh pregnant and lactating mothers and 1.7 million school children.
It is also reported that 3,950 metric tons of rice, 1,188 metric tons of soybeans, 768 metric tons of red lentils and 2,310 metric tons of maize are to be provided under this program.
