MP Anura Dissanayake suggests to opposition leader Sajeeth Premadasa that let’s stop slandering and talk about political policies.
“These days, some people tried to create a social protest about private property by quoting a part of a document available on the website of our party, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. Our manifesto was adopted by a party representative conference in 1979. It was released in 1980. 43 years ago today.
World politics at that time in 1979 was different from today. There was a strong socialist camp in the world. Leftist movements were being built around the world with the help of that camp. Those leftist movements sometimes even played armed politics. There were programs of the left corresponding to that era. What has happened after 43 years? The socialist camp has collapsed. New political camps are being created. US-centric politics. China-centric politics. Eurocentric politics. As Russia-centered politics, different types of power bases are being created at different levels of the world.
The world has moved forward using technology. Man’s thoughts, wishes, attitudes and hopes have changed rapidly. Communication and technology have changed by leaps and bounds. Today is a different world than in 1980.
Janatha Vimukti Peramuna is not a stagnant political movement. Our politics is a flexible political movement that understands the changes in the world, society and economy very well, assimilates them and can make changes accordingly. That is the JVP-led National People’s Force. We are not trees. We can take very good turns without breaking or breaking.
In 2000, we presented a five-year plan corresponding to that time. In 2015, we again developed a program to suit the new conditions. It is called ‘the conscience of the land’. An agenda called ‘Our vision of the country’ was presented. Again in 2019, an agenda was presented called ‘Deshaye Atsishava’. We presented our policies on how to develop those areas so as to cover all areas including economy and education.
Sajith Premadasa who didn’t see any of that is tweeting holding an 80. Please update Sajith. That’s all we have to say. You don’t understand politics Sajeet.
Sajith is using new technical words these days. It is good to learn such new things. And be renewed with advanced politics. Sajith represents conservative politics. On his stage there is mud and slander. What is progressive politics? The leaders of each political party engage in dialogue with other leaders about the party program in front of the people. Come Sajeet, let’s have an open conversation about our program and your political vision.
Don’t worry, I guarantee that Sajith won’t hear about his sister’s money laundering. They do not ask what happened to the cultural fund. They do not ask about the hiring of employees without the approval of the Housing Authority. Let’s talk. People understand who can develop the country. Let’s stop slandering all over the place and let’s have a conversation,” says MP Anura Dissanayake.
