It is reported that the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court has ordered that vehicles valued at around ten crore rupees, which have been kept in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department under Operation Justice, should be handed over to their registered owners.
Kaduwela Magistrate Chanima Wijebandara has issued this order rejecting the request to detain the relevant vehicles and give them an opportunity for further investigations.
It is also stated that the defense lawyer has raised a strong objection before the court saying that the Criminal Investigation Department has not obtained proper orders from the High Court to acquire this property.
In December last year, the Kaduwela police seized five luxury buses, a modern car and a motorcycle owned by a sister of Mallala’s Sudath Kitsiri alias “Welivita Sudda”, a drug trafficker and handed them over to the Criminal Investigation Department.
