Minister Susil Premjayantha is reported to have said that it has not been possible to hire 54 principals for national schools due to non-approval by the Public Service Commission.
He noted that the appointment of retired persons to the Swadhina Commission has rendered its work ineffective.
“For 6 months now, we have been trying to gazette them even though the Public Service Commission has not approved them. So even though these independent commissions have been formed, they cannot solve this problem by putting those retired people on it. Therefore, I will make a special statement in Parliament soon. It has been 6 months since the permission was requested. It asks for permission every week. Not allowed. So see how independent commissions have failed. No work is being done in the country.”
