A DETAILED DISCUSSION ABOUT THE VOTE!

There is still an uncertain situation in the country regarding the holding of the local government elections. The current government, which has been accused of destroying the economy and the ruling president, is trying to postpone the elections by presenting various reasons.

In such a background, a special discussion regarding the announcement of the date of the local government election is scheduled to be held at the Election Commission today (07) at 10.30 with the participation of the Finance Ministry Secretary, the Government Press Officer and the Inspector General of Police.

Also, the members of the Election Commission will meet separately and discuss today regarding the holding of the local government election.

Meanwhile, Samagi Jana Balawega Party Member of Parliament Mr. Tissa Attanayake said that the election date will be announced by the 2nd week of April.

A group of opposition MPs are scheduled to meet the Election Commission today to discuss the announcement of the date of the local government election.

A letter has also been sent to the Chairman of the Election Commission with the signatures of 09 MPs representing the opposition to arrange for the local government elections to be held before the 20th of March.
