Police say that a person was killed and 8 others were injured in a car accident that took place this morning (24) in Alimankada area, Kilinochchi.
The police said that the accident occurred when a bus of the traffic board traveling from Jaffna to Kandy and a van traveling to Katunayake Airport and returning to Jaffna collided with each other.
It is reported that the accident took place after the bus collided with a herd of cows on the road and collided with the van that came in front of it.
Kilinochchi hospital sources have reported that a woman who was traveling in the van lost her life in the accident, and out of the 8 people who were injured, five were seriously injured.
Meanwhile, it is reported that 8 cows have also lost their lives in the accident.
