It is reported that the police arrested a group of suspects who entered the food storage complex in Uswatakeiyawa Aluth Akaraya area, assaulted the security guard there, locked him in a room in the store and stole a stock of dry food from the store.
It is stated that a CCTV camera in the warehouse complex recorded how the dry food like lentils, chickpeas, coriander, cumin and mustard were loaded into 5 containers. The value of the stolen dry food is said to be over 3 crore rupees.
It is reported that 8 suspects involved in the incident have been arrested so far and they were arrested in the areas of Bandarakoswatta, Katunayake, Peliyagoda, Kuliapitiya and Hettipola. It is also said that the main suspect and two others who are said to have supported this theft are to be arrested.
It is reported that the Pamunugama Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
