Anuradhapura Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau officers reportedly raided a hemp plantation run by a couple on the Anuradhapura Airport Road and a laboratory for testing hemp products.
It is reported that the hemp cultivation has been maintained in a greenhouse and the suspect couple are 29 and 28 years old residents of Medawachchiya and Vavuniya areas.
The couple has been living in this house on rental basis. Also, the police suspect that this greenhouse and laboratory may have been maintained for the production of kush-type drugs. It is reported that the police also found some research equipment used for various experiments.
The suspect couple is going to be produced before the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Court today (29) and it is said that the Anuradhapura Police will carry out further investigations regarding the incident.
