According to the report, a trafficker has been arrested for taking money from people and sending them to Laos on tourist visas, promising to get jobs in Thailand.
It is stated that the suspect is a resident of Ambalantota Welipatanwila area.
It is said that two suspects were present at the time of the raid and the other person has escaped and he is a candidate of a major party for this year’s local government elections.
The arrested suspect has been remanded until the 20th by the Hambantota Magistrate’s Office and it is said that the suspect has been ordered by the court to bring back the people who are stranded in Laos to Sri Lanka.
