A LANGAMA OFFICER WAS CAUGHT TAKING BRIBES.

It is reported that the officer in charge of the Diyasenpura depot of the Sri Lanka Transport Board was arrested yesterday (24) by the officers of the Bribery or Corruption Commission at Medirigiriya Vihara Mawatha on a charge of bribery.

The officer was arrested while going to take a bribe of 60,000 rupees from a bus conductor at Diyasenpura depot.

According to reports, the bus conductor was asked to pay a bribe for his release during an investigation into the non-payment of tickets to the passengers, and the suspect, the officer in charge of the Diyasenpura depot, was brought to Colombo after being handed over to the Polonnaruwa police.
