It is reported that a person has been arrested in the Negombo area with a lot of cigarettes that were brought into the country illegally.
According to the information received by the officers of the Police Special Task Force’s Gonahena camp, during a raid, the cigarettes were found, which were illegally imported into Sri Lanka without paying customs duty.
600 cigarettes have been taken into custody by the special task forces.
A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, and he has been handed over to the Negombo Police Station for further investigation, the Police Special Task Force states.
