A PERSON WHO EXTORTED MONEY BY PRETENDING TO BE ABROAD WAS ARRESTED.


It is reported that the special investigation unit of the Foreign Employment Bureau has arrested a person who defrauded money on a large scale to provide foreign jobs by implying that he was working in the Presidential Task Force.

It is stated that this person has a program to provide jobs in countries like New Zealand, England, South Korea and Japan, and that it costs 15 lakh rupees from a person, and that the relevant fraud has been committed by saying that 750,000 rupees are needed for this purpose.

Accordingly, Foreign Employment Bureau deployed a strategist and called the concerned person to Battaramulla city.  He had come there in a car with a name plate saying President’s Office.  At that time, he pretended to be a government official by saying that he was working in the Housing Development Authority.  He showed an agreement prepared for providing employment and at that time he was arrested.
