It is reported that the Department of Meteorology has issued a warning notice for several districts of the island due to the hot weather.
The department states that the heat index will be high today (22) in the districts of North West Province and Gampaha, Colombo, Hambantota and Monaragala.
Mr. Ajith Wijemanna, director of the forecasting department of the Department of Meteorology, has said that people should pay attention to this.
Meanwhile, Pediatrician Dr. Deepal Perera says that skin diseases are increasing among children with the prevailing hot weather.
In view of the current situation, Dr. Deepal Perera, an expert, has further stated that exposure of children to sunlight should be limited.
