A WILDLIFE OFFICER WAS KILLED BY A WILD ELEPHANT.

It is reported that around twenty wildlife officers went to drive away a herd of wild elephants in Galenbindunuwewa Padikaramaduwa Ambakolanya area yesterday (28) and during the operation to drive away the wild elephant herd, a wildlife officer was attacked by an elephant and lost his life.

The deceased is an officer-in-charge of Anuradhapura Ritigala Wildlife Office and a resident of Matale area. His name is PBJ Vijaykon.

It is reported that the body of the deceased wildlife officer has been kept at the Yakkala Huruluwewa Regional Hospital for autopsy.
