Wennappuwa Headquarters Police say that a woman who went to cross the road on foot was run over by a Langama bus and died on the spot.
A 69-year-old woman named Pedille Podi Menike, a resident of Lunuwila Jaya Mawatha, died in the accident.
It is said that when a group of pedestrians were crossing the road, a Langama bus which was running from Migomuwa towards Halawata stopped and when it was going to move forward again, the woman in front of her was going to cross the road and the rear wheel of the bus was crushed.
