Cabinet Spokesperson, Mass Media Minister Bandula Gunawardena has said that an investigation will be conducted regarding the symbolic strike held by the employees of the Central Post Exchange.
The minister stated this in response to a question raised by a journalist at the press conference held yesterday (12) at the Government Information Department to inform the cabinet decisions.
There are four elevators in Central Post Exchange. Two for personal use and two for carrying goods. During the last covid season, one of them was out of order, so one that carries goods was used for people’s use. Then tenders were called and handed over to an agency to repair. For that, the necessary equipment should be imported. The process is currently underway. A strike was initiated knowing that all necessary measures had been taken to resolve the issue. Therefore, I instructed the Postmaster General to conduct an inquiry into the initiation of such a strike.
