Police Media Spokesman Senior Superintendent of Police Advocate Mr. Nihal Talduwa said that when a serious criminal tried to go abroad at Katunayake Airport, he was arrested by the airport police and the suspect escaped from the police officers.
In relation to this incident, the four police officers including the Police Station Commander of Katunayake Airport were arrested yesterday (25) by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Division of Negombo Division and it is reported that they were presented to the Negombo Magistrate.
According to reports, the sergeant who was among the officers has been jailed and after being presented to the magistrate, the court further ordered that the arrested police station commander and the two police constables be released on bail.
