It is reported that the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has approved the Sri Lanka Electricity Board today (17) to purchase 100 MW of electricity for a period of 6 months.
That is under Section 43 of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009.
Accordingly, approval has been given for the purchase of electricity for a period of 6 months from 18th August 2023 under 3 main conditions and those conditions are as follows.
1. The relevant power purchase should be done on merit basis and an independent audit of the purchase should be done at the end of the power purchase agreement period.
2. Kothmale Polpitiya 220 kv line should be activated before 31st August 2024.
3. This electricity purchase should be done on the basis of minimum cost.
