Police have arrested a person who stole the batteries used to receive signals from a telephone signal tower in Dammulla area of Beliaatta.
It is reported that the 33-year-old suspect, a resident of Beliatta area, was arrested yesterday morning (31) at the Weerakatiya police domain while he was transporting 08 stolen batteries to be sold in a three-wheeler.
The police have stated that the value of the batteries stolen by the suspect is more than 04 lakh rupees.
It is said that the suspect has been remanded until next 07th after being produced before the Magistrate’s Court of Valasmulla.
