The National Dengue Control Unit has stated that the number of dengue cases has increased in several areas due to the rainy weather conditions throughout the island.
Its Director, Specialist Dr. Nalin Ariyaratne mentioned that an increase in dengue cases has been reported in Galle, Badulla, Kurunegala, Puttalam, and that due to the inter-monsoon, the number of dengue cases has also increased in Kandy. And that there is no shortage.
At present, the number of dengue cases has exceeded 80,000 across the island. Most of them are reported from the Western Province.
