Mrs. Devika Kodithuvakku, Chairperson of the Government Family Health Services Association, has joined the Samagi Jana Balawega.
Accordingly, she was appointed as an executive member of the Samagi Jana Balawega Health Policy Making Committee, the National Family Health Services Policy Making Committee and the Disease Prevention Policy Advisory Committee. G. Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition, has arranged for the appointment
She is the President of the Government Family Health Services Association and is also working as a political and social activist.
Born in August 1969 in Peradeniya, she received her primary education from Peradeniya University Horticultural College and then secondary education from Hemamali Girls’ College, Kandy.
She had been engaged in extracurricular activities since her school days and joined the Red Cross Society and within a very short period of time was assigned to work as a Red Cross nurse.
For more than two decades, she fearlessly stood up for the injustices faced by family health service officers and has held many positions such as the Deputy President of the Federation of Public Service Trade Unions, the Convener of the Federation of Health Professionals, etc.
