It is reported that the Public Utilities Commission has taken steps to reduce the fee charged earlier from Rs 3,000 to Rs 800 for power recovery after disconnection.
The director general of the said commission, Damitha Kumarasinghe, speaking to the media yesterday (05) said that the customers have also been given the opportunity to pay the amount that they cannot pay in installments when the electricity connection is restored.
The Director General who had further commented has also said:
With the decrease in electricity charges, a customer who now uses 30 units paid an electricity bill of 540 rupees. Now it is reduced to 390 rupees. A person who sold 60 units paid 1,620 rupees, now it is reduced to 1,140 rupees. A person who purchased 90 units paid 3,990 rupees, now it is reduced to 2,800 rupees. “A person who has used 120 units will get a reduction in electricity bill from 6,460 rupees to 4,900 rupees.”
