It is reported that due to the lack of anesthesiologists in the Ambilipitiya District General Hospital, there have been obstacles in performing surgeries.
People from many villages in Sabaragamuwa South and Uva Provinces will come to get treatment at this hospital on a daily basis and Ambilipitiya District General Hospital consists of 13 wards where a large number of people are receiving treatment.
Hospital director Dr. Varuna Sampath Bandara said that on average, about 20 surgeries are performed per day.
But he has further mentioned that due to the absence of an anesthesiologist for a few days now, only minor surgeries are being performed these days.
