The cabinet meeting held yesterday (Dec. 19) approved the promotion of 9,417 Sri Lanka Police constables to police inspectors to the next post.
According to that, 8,312 police officers and 1,105 police officers are going to be promoted.
Sri Lanka Police was appointed to protect law and order for the people, but today what is happening is protecting the powerful and imprisoning the people. Where law and justice should be maintained, most of the police officers are trying to protect themselves with fame, praise and money.
Some police officers who are fed by the taxes paid by the people, instead of standing up for the people, serve only them like the puppets of the politicians. But the people fulfill their duties for them.
They deserve such high medals because they fulfill their public duty properly.
