It is reported that two persons, including a woman, have lost their lives in a road accident that took place in the area of Vihara Junction on the Dambulla – Kandy main road.
The police say that the accident happened yesterday (05) night.
A motorcycle traveling towards the main road from Kandalam collided with a person on the side of the road and a woman carrying a child.
The person injured in the accident and the woman who was carrying the child died after being admitted to Dambulla Hospital.
The woman’s 9-month-old daughter is being treated in Dambulla Hospital.
A 45-year-old man residing at Bandaragama address and a 43-year-old woman, whose address has not been disclosed, have died in the accident.
It is said that the dead bodies have been deposited in the Dambulla Hospital mortuary.
The motorcyclist was also injured in the accident and he is undergoing treatment in Dambulla hospital under police protection.
