As thousands of government employees work in the suburbs including Colombo – Malambe, and as a solution to the severe traffic congestion in Colombo city and its surroundings, the government has decided to re-implement the Colombo Fort – Malambe light rail project and the Urban Development to get alternative proposals for it. It is also reported that the Minister of Housing Prasanna Ranatunga issued a cabinet letter.
The minister further stated that passengers can save time and money with this train service.
