It is reported that Mr. Upul Ranaweera, Director of Development of the Department of Export Agriculture, said that in comparison to the last 5 years, more than 86,000 million rupees have been earned this year, mainly from the export of cinnamon, pepper and cloves.
Mr. Upul Ranaweera who further commented on that,
“Considering the last 5 years, the export agriculture department has been able to earn the most foreign exchange from the export of crops related to the year 2023 until now. Accordingly, 34,771 metric tons have been exported up to June 2023 and it has been possible to earn 86,680 million rupees. Cinnamon. Crops such as , cloves and pepper have contributed mainly. Also, a lot of foreign exchange has been received from the export of date palm.”
